Court Records Utah

Utah joined the Union in 1896 as the 45th state. Utah’s population is about 2,736,424. The state capital and largest city is Salt Lake City, with a population of 181,698, although the metropolitan area of Salt Lake City has 1,115,692 people. Utah borders on Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada and Arizona.

Utah is one of the most religiously uniform states in the nation. Between 40% and 60% of its citizens are Mormons, also known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Utah also has the fastest growing population in the country.

Utah's primary industries are mining, salt production, cattle ranching, petroleum and coal production, tourism and government services. Agriculturally, the main crops are cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, brine shrimp, mink and sheep. Its natural resources that are mined are oil, gas and coal.

Utah is mostly a semi-arid to arid climate zone with very hot summers and very cold summers. Because of its high altitude, parts of Utah can receive up to 700 inches of snow a year, resulting in a large skiing industry.

Birth, death, marriage and divorce records for the State of Utah after 1905 can be obtained at the Utah Office of Vital Records.
