Court Records New Jersey

New Jersey was one of the original thirteen colonies and it joined the Union in 1787 as the 3rd state. New Jersey’s population is about 8,707,739. The state capital is Trenton and the largest city is Newark, with a population of 103,994. New Jersey borders on New York, Delaware and New Hampshire.

New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the country and it has the second highest median income, next to Maryland. It is also the most ethnically and religiously diverse states in the country, and one of the most liberal as well.

New Jersey’s primary industries are chemical development, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, electric equipment, food processing, printing and publishing, and tourism. Agriculturally, the main crops are vegetables, nursery stock, seafood, horses, fruits and nuts and dairy products.

Most of New Jersey has a humid subtropical climate, but the northwest region has a humid continental climate, with somewhat cooler temperatures because of the higher elevation. Hot and humid summers are typical, with temperatures in the 80s. Winters are cold and snowy.

Vital Records (birth, death, divorce or marriage) for the State of New Jersey after 1878 can be obtained at the New Jersey State Department or from the City or Town Clerk where the birth, death, divorce or marriage occurred. New Jersey’s court records and other public records are open to the public as defined in the New Jersey Open Public Records Act. The Act explains what information is not available to the general public due to privacy legislation.
