Court Records Alaska

Court records for the state of Alaska can be found in the various county courthouses and state government departments. Alaska is the largest state by land mass (twice the size of Texas,) but the smallest by population, which is only just under 700,000, half of whom live in the Anchorage area. While Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska, Juneau is the state capitol, with only 30,000 residents.

 

Alaska is the 49th state, having been purchased from Russia in 1867, for $7.2 million, or approximately two cents per acre. Alaska is full of active volcanoes, has over 3 million lakes and half of the world's glaciers – over 100,000.

 

The climate in Alaska is quite varied. Temperatures can range from high 90s in the summer to -60 in the winter. As such a large land mass, with ocean to the west and south, Northwestern Canada to the east and arctic tundra to the north, the climate is desert in some areas, sub-arctic in others, and oceanic in still others.

 

There are only 12 county courthouses in Alaska where you will find public records and court records. Alaska is a sparsely populated state, with most of the population clustered in the southern section, which is where you will find the majority of the county courthouses.
